Pressrelease Moderna Museet:

"Artistic Strategies" - a series of events based on contemporary artists methods and the issues that concern them. Common to all the artists who have been invited to take part is that they work with strategies, playful or serious, that can give rise to political and socially critical debate. Their methods vary from creating one's own institutions to infiltrating existing systems and undertaking activism that produces new forms of knowledge. The series aims to make room for a discussion of the artist's role, opportunities and will to change the fixed structures within which art works, thereby even being able to influence other systems of which art is a part. Can artists today function as political activists and will the art world see this activism as art? What strategies are needed when artists question the ruling system but also want to be able to earn a living from their art?

Artistic strategies hopes to help establish networks between artists and various platforms that various artists work with as well as students from the curator programmes. The series also intends to act as a contact area for artists from different countries and a new generation of curators.

Participants include: Copenhagen Free University, One Star Press, Superflex, Åsa Elzén, Sonia Hedstrand, Sofie Sweger, Birgitta Tholander, Måns Wrange, Dariush Moaven Doust, Elin Wikström, Matias Faldbakken, Ståle Stenslie, Gil & Moti, Peter Andersson, Jasper van den Brink, Johan Grimonprez, Jonas Ekeberg, Barbara Caveng, Markus Renvall, The Icelandic Love Corporation, Annika Ström and others.
